Rushden Concord Motor Club

The museum had a limited amount of information about the Rushden Concord Motor Club until our volunteers started a collections review on a folder of miscellaneous papers, what a treasure trove it turned out to be. The find included a draft of the original constitution, application forms for joining the club (1970’s when the club was named Rushden Concord Car Club, club newsletters from 1970-1972, greetings cards (blank) and various letters regarding club printing and trips. Volunteers Chris and Jane have extracted trip and park visits information and this is now available for in the museum for your perusal. Come soon and take a light hearted look at where the motoring enthusiasts of the 70’s chose to go for their recreation.

There is also a display of a selection of the original documents and copies of news cuttings and some ‘motoring essentials’ including the breakdown award! It seems to have been a friendly club to be part of back in the day when cars were more of a novelty and it was fun to drive to nice places and be sociable. One recent visitor was thrilled to recognise a relative in the display, it’s great to bring memories alive!
