Museum’s drayman’s boots in the History of Northamptonshire in 100 Objects Exhibition

These hobnailed boots made by C&E Lewis Northampton, once belonged to Arthur Seward who became a drayman with Midland Railway Co in 1915.

Nearly a year after we were invited to submit an entry as guest curator in the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery’s (NM&AG) exhibition, we are pleased to say that our boots are now on display as item No. 87 in the Northamptonshire History in 100 Objects exhibition. You can find out more about them and Arthur at the NM&AG and the associated book. On line you can listen to the related podcast with John Griff, along with the other 99 objects that can also be found in the amazing interactive online timeline, see the link below.

Come along to the station and visit the museum (Saturday 10:00-12:00) to find out more about the drayhorse transport in Rushden. If you enjoy geocaching there is an interactive app for mobile phones which will take you on a ‘treasure hunt across the whole of Northamptonshire – there is so much to find out.
